Transport in Mumbai....

[The main public transport systems in Mumbai are trains and buses. Also taxis and auto rickshaws are available for individuals.
I think that the transport connectivity is pretty good in Mumbai however the South Indians have claimed that it is better in south Indian cities. I wouldn't know about this because whenever I have gone to South India my interaction with local people is limited due to the language problem! They only speak Tamil and I reaaallly don't understand it!
The trains have some bogies which are only for women, this makes it relatively safe for women to travel! Buses also have special women seats! Both these transports are pretty safe for women to travel unaccompanied at ease. Of course there are always freak incidents especially if one is traveling at the peak hours of traffic.
The times when offices close and open are peak hours at this time there is Greeat human load on these transport systems so unless you are part of that load or have an emergency these times are better avoided. This around 5 to 6 in the evening and from 8 to 10.00 in the morning. That is when trains are in conditions as shown below:
I just think such load is the result of unplanned extension of the city!
The city is just extending and people from 2 hours away from the city are traveling inward and back everyday for jobs, if job opportunities were provided for them nearer to their place by planned industrial/business development it would really help.
But as of now only transport is being provided on public demand to connect remote areas from the core city! And obviously the infrastructure is falling short.
The main industrial hub is changing to a more suburban region however, there is inevitably a large traffic!
In fact the trains get so packed with people that every now and then people were being thrown out, and then rules about not sitting on the train and stuff were implemented but the people aren't interested. I think some planning needs to happen from the business and industry heads like changing staff timing or hiring people living nearby!
